There is a ground settlement restriction of 18 months, which means this is how long you will have to wait after burial before placing the headstone. In the meantime, you can place a temporary marker at the gravesite. Kerbed memorials may be allowed in some sections, but this is subject to approval. Another restriction to be aware of is that you must hold exclusive right of burial for the plot before you can place a headstone or inscription at the site.
How long does it take to design and create a headstone?
The time it takes to design and create a headstone will all depend on the choice of materials and the detail in the inscription. If we have the chosen stone in stock, this will reduce the production schedule, as it means we can get started right away. For rarer stone types and for specific shades of stone, this will need to be ordered. The inscription will typically take weeks and up to a month. Since there is an 18 month restriction on ground settlement, this means there is little reason to rush when it comes to designing and creating the headstone.
Who places the headstone at the site?
We take responsibility for delivering and installing the headstone at the gravesite. It’s important that the headstone is placed by a professional to help avoid the risk of the stone toppling over or becoming damaged.
